Game Announced: Assassin's Creed Revelations

Ubisoft has announced a fourth Assassin's Creed game titled: Assassin's Creed: Revelations. The story will once again follow Ezio but this time in Constantinople in the Ottoman Empire. Desmond and Altiare will be playable as well being the first game to feature all three characters as main gameplay characters. Ubisoft says the game will be a journey of "discovery and revelation" and will feature "revolutionary gameplay, allowing players to manipulate the construct of Desmond's memories and the Animus to decipher the mysteries of his past and gain insight into the future." Yes, multiplayer will be returning with new modes and maps. Apparently this will release in Novemember on Xbox, PS3, and PC just in time for the holiday shopping season.

Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood was a better or at least an equally as good game in most people's eyes as Assassin's Creed II. With the introduction of new gameplay mechanics, improved combat, multiplayer, etc. they manage to make the game more fun and feel fresh. How long an they keep this trend up one must wonder?

Ubisoft has planned to release a new Assassin's Creed game every year from now on. As long as the games remain great and don't start feeling repetative I am all for it. I just worry that cranking one of these out each year might start to stretch the series thin making each subsequent game less fresh and less interesting. The games currently seem to be getting better with each release so lets hope it stays that way. Are you excited about this announcement? Are you worried that this might start getting the Call of Duty treatment?

  1. Difference is that CoD was milked quite some time ago...and it was never "unique" persay. Assassin's Creed was, in my opinion, something new that i hadn't played i loved it. Not only that, but it was, and is, a mysterious game which centers around so many characters, and so many parallel stories.
